Dr. Stephen Furs obtained his undergraduate degree from the Honors Program at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1985. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1990 and completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine there. He was also a chief/clinical fellow at the University of Connecticut. He completed a fellowship in clinical gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill in 1997. A third year of fellowship training was spent primarily in diagnostic and therapeutic biliary procedures.
Dr. Furs is a life member of the National Registry of Who's Who. He is a member of multiple gastroenterology societies. He has authored numerous research abstracts and has presented at national gastroenterology meetings. Dr. Furs is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
