Hemorrhoid Banding Ligation | Cary… | Cary Gastroenterology Associates

Band ligation is by far the most effective method for treating internal hemorrhoids. At Cary Gastroenterology we use the CRH O’Regan System®, a process considered more than 99% effective in treating hemorrhoids, and is covered by most insurance plans. This advanced banding technique addresses the underlying cause of hemorrhoids. A small instrument is used to place a tiny rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid, which cuts off the blood supply causing it to shrink and fall off in a few days.

What To Expect

The procedure takes about 1 minute, and is painless, so you can return to work or regular activities the same day. Fewer than 5% of patients have a recurrence within 2 years.

Risks

Less than 0.2% of patients treated experienced significant post-procedure pain or bleeding, compared to 4% to 29% who complained of pain with traditional hemorrhoid banding.
